UltraGrid 1.5. "The one with the mouse support" Release
October 2018CESNET and the Laboratory of Advanced Networking Technologies (SITOLA) are happy to announce a new stable release of the UltraGrid software for low-latency and high-quality video transmissions over IP networks. The current stable release is versioned 1.5 and is available for download for all supported platforms at http://www.ultragrid.cz/.
The major news in this release include:
- UltraGrid now features a GUI! The GUI allows to control all basic UltraGrid features and includes tools such as video preview and audio volume meter to simplify UltraGrid operations.
- We have added full SPOUT server support. SPOUT is a video frame sharing system for Microsoft Windows, which allows applications for Microsoft Windows to share OpenGL textures in a similar way to Syphon for the Mac.
- UltraGrid adds support for video decoding acceleration through libavcodec. Intel and Nvidia GPUs are supported through VA API and VDPAU.
- UltraGrid now supports Bitflow frame grabbers (http://www.bitflow.com/) and capturing, transmitting and displaying video in 120fps.
- UltraGrid now includes the support for Comprimato UltraJ2K JPEG2000 codec (https://comprimato.com/) in the master branch. The codec is available separately from comprimato.com.
- We have improved OpenGL display performance and latency in UltraGrid.
- UltraGrid 1.5 moves to SDL2 displaying library. This allows e.g. to enter a specific display for UltraGrid video output if multiple displays are available.
- We have added a MacOS and Windows support for AJA capture cards.
- UltraGrid 1.5 now features native 64-bit Windows builds.
- UltraGrid 1.5 includes up-to-date version of our own GPU accelerated JPEG codec (GPUJPEG).
- UltraGrid 1.5 is updated to match recent versions of supported drivers and APIs.
- Many other improvements and fixes. 329 files were changed with 31500 insertions(+) and 24918 deletions(-) in the UltraGrid source codes.
UltraGrid is available at Github (https://github.com/CESNET/UltraGrid/) including the UltraGrid wiki documentation at https://github.com/CESNET/UltraGrid/wiki. Everyone in welcome to contribute to the UltraGrid development!
