UltraGrid 1.7. Release
November 2021CESNET and the Laboratory of Advanced Networking Technologies (SITOLA) are happy to announce a new stable release of the UltraGrid software for low-latency and high-quality video transmissions over IP networks. The current stable release is versioned 1.7 and is available for download for all supported platforms at http://www.ultragrid.cz/.
The major news in this release include:
- NAT traversal support including Port Control Protocol (PCP) and Port Mapping Protocol (PMP). See https://github.com/CESNET/UltraGrid/wiki/NAT-traversal for more details.
- Sever mode as an addition to a traditional peer-to-peer paradigm in UltraGrid. If one of the parties connecting has a public IP address it can act as a server and wait for a connection from the other party. In this mode the stream sent back from the server should pass through NAT and even a firewalls (depending on configuration) automatically. See https://github.com/CESNET/UltraGrid/wiki/NAT-traversal#server-mode for more details.
- 360 video support including own GPU accelerated 360 video stitcher and VR headsets support.
- NDI 5 support and a support for up to 16-bit video transmissions with NDI.
- Improved codecs handing, higher video bit depth and proper range/color spaces support with various codecs (Cineform, libavcodec (libx264, VP9, NVENC)).
- New codecs support through libavcodec (SVT-AV1, rav1e, dav1d).
- Accelerated video decoding on Mac OS through Videotoolbox.
- Accelerated H.264 video encoding on Raspberry Pi.
- Jack audio support fixes.
- "Ultra" low latency preset for audio processing as well as other smaller improvements towards lower audio latency in certain setups.
- Up-to-date Blackmagic Decklink SDK support, updated Deltacast API support.
- Improved ARM architecture support including Apple M1.
- Possibility to select specific encoder for each codec through UltraGrid GUI.
